Coping with Chronic Illness

Catalog Description

This course examines the relationship between psychology and chronic illness, using the biopsychosocial model. Chronic illnesses are persistent health conditions that increase an individual’s discomfort and impact an individual's well-being for an undetermined period of time. By exploring various chronic illnesses and their associated physical, psychological, and functional impacts, students will develop skills to promote healthy behaviors, enhance coping mechanisms, and improve quality of life for individuals living with chronic illness. Students will be introduced to strategies to promote healthy behaviors, positive coping responses, and complete assignments that demonstrate how to apply them.
