Description
This course is designed to support people who will be working with young people in secure Juvenile Facilities run by the Administration for Children Services. Students will learn the following: Child Abuse, Maltreatment & Identification, OSHA, CPR/ BFA, Safe Crisis Management, Culturally Competent Services for LGBTQ youth, Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), Suicide Awareness, Motivational Interviewing, Behavior Management, Mental Health, Trauma Informed Care & Adolescent Development, Professional Boundaries, Building Healthy Relationships, Prevention, Detection and Response to Sexual Misconduct (PREA). In addition, students will receive training around resident supervision, professionalism, conflict resolution, decision-making techniques, safety and security, logbooks and incident report writing and secure detention’s behavior management program, STRIVE.
