Healthcare Clinical Terminologies, and Classification Systems

Catalog Description

This course will provide an overview of healthcare terminologies, code sets and classification systems, and associated standards. This course focuses on health concepts, documentation, health care taxonomies and clinical vocabularies, terminologies, classifications and nomenclatures required for health data analysis, clinical coding and clinical systems associated with the electronic health record. This includes standards and terminologies common to Electronic Health records to include the following: The International Classification of Diseases (ICD), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code sets, Health Level Seven (HL7) Reference Information Model, Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine (SNOMED), Logical Observation Identifiers, Names, and Codes (LOINC), and RadLex, Standards, terminologies, and outcome measures unique to healthcare.
