This course is designed to examine the key role of small groups in a variety of contexts, both from the perspective of psychological theory and research and experientially. Topics covered include leader-member relations, group development, communications, conflict, decision-making, and self-management. The course seeks to introduce students to the fundamental
knowledge of group theory and the basic skills needed for effective group work, both as a leader and as a participant, in addition to understanding the diversity, nature and value of groups, how roles, norms, and stages of development affect group structure, and how the aspects of power, conflict, decision-making and leadership pertain to group process.
