This course focuses on how sociologists and scholars from related fields analyze, interpret, and make sense of the social world. We will start by exploring foundational questions about knowledge production that shape our approach to sociological inquiry. Students will gain practical tools for conducting social science research, along with a strong theoretical foundation for critically evaluating and designing research that addresses sociological questions. Students will learn about and practice both qualitative and quantitative methods of inquiry, including digital content analysis, interviewing, ethnographic observation, focus groups, participatory action research, and survey research.
