Sociology of Sex & Gender

This course will be a personal and an academic exploration that will transform your understanding of the socialworld and your place in it. Through explorations of gender in our own Western culture and others, with special attention to the role of power, we will identify and critique societal norms and examine what it means to say that gender is an accomplishment, which may or may not correspond to one?s sex in predictable ways. We will utilize lectures, discussions, texts, films, and personal experiences and insights of gender in its many manifestations.
