YS 499 - Youth Studies Capstone (3 cr)

Youth StudiesSPS - School of Professional Studies

Course Title

Youth Studies Capstone

Catalog Description

This course, which should be taken in the student’s final semester, is an opportunity for the student to integrate and synthesize the body of knowledge acquired in courses leading to completion of the B.A. in Youth Studies. Students will work with the instructor to develop a multi-disciplinary capstone project that demonstrates the student’s command of subject matter covered in the courses. The capstone may take various forms including an independent or group research project, a design for a program, a concept paper for a city-wide initiative, or an auto-ethnography exploring one's journey in the YS program. All capstones must include an extensive bibliography and an analytic essay 10-15 pages. Classroom sessions will alternate with independent supervised research and project development. Will culminate into a mutually agreed upon final project that can be used for future employment in the field or to advance to graduate school.
