This course immerses students in the world-renowned collections of New York’s first museum. The New-York Historical holdings comprise approximately 80,000 objects documenting the history of the United States through the prism of New York City and State. In-depth exploration of the collection provides insight into the past and into the museum practices (collection, curation, interpretation, design) that aim to make the past resonate with contemporary audiences.
